Species-specific and generalized biomass models for estimating carbon stocks of young reforestations

چکیده

Biomass models are key to the correct quantification of aboveground biomass and carbon stocks. Most current available sets were developed for adult trees although very few have been employed accurately estimate during first years reforestations, despite increasing number reforestations over recent years. In this study, species-specific generalized single main 14 species used in Spain. A comparison with existing at individual tree level larger these was also conducted confirm hypothesis that specific required reforestation. new set fitted simultaneously per species, based on three different independent variables – root-collar-diameter, total height crown projection area- their combinations. The provide more accurate unbiased predictions after reforestation when compared previously trees. can be applied is unknown or mixed plantations where not individualized. provided a wide variety surveys monitoring conditions depending data, from classical field inventories novel approaches such as airborne LiDAR data aerial photographs. • Species-specific those most Generalized presented identity unknown. Differences estimations stated stage. Field LIDAR remote sensing models. Models stocks afforestation/reforestations.

Estimation of biomass, carbon stocks and soil sequestration of Gowatr mangrove forests, Gulf of Oman

The mangrove forest ecosystem is known to possess a variety of ecosystem services, including high rates of carbon sequestration, storage and mitigating climate change through reduced deforestation. This study was carried out in the mangrove forests of Gowatr Bay, Gulf of Oman during 2017-18 to quantify biomass and carbon stocks of all components of this forest, including live and dead trees, so...

Analysing the uncertainty of estimating forest carbon stocks in China

Earth surface systems are controlled by a combination of global and local factors, which cannot be understood without accounting for both the local and global components. The system dynamics cannot be recovered from the global or local controls alone. Ground forest inventory is able to accurately estimate forest carbon stocks in sample plots, but these sample plots are too sparse to support the...
